Inner World is a game I developed with 3 other classmates for the course Game World Design at the IT University of Copenhagen in June 2023. The project focused on creating a narrative experience about mental health through environment design. Taking on the roles of Level Designer, Project Manager, Sound Designer, and Programmer, I helped shape a metaphorical inner landscape where a trans girl’s personality splits into three after trauma. The game world emphasizes the connection between emotional states and physical space, with players controlling an empty soul who must navigate between different personas while being watched by the mysterious Eye. Using sound design and environmental storytelling, each area reflects aspects of the protagonist’s psyche, from anxiety to self-acceptance. We managed development through MVP milestones and a traffic light system, coordinating our small team to create an atmospheric exploration of identity and healing.
